EXCERPT:

The United States will not stop China from rapidly developing artificial intelligence by appealing to treaties and international law. Instead, it will safeguard its security by staying far enough ahead that Beijing can never gain a decisive advantage, or by seeking a deal once China matches American capabilities. In a recent two-part essay for ‘Civitas Outlook,’ senior fellow John Yoo argued that the United States should use its AI lead to build deterrence, the one rule of international politics that China cannot cheat. He joins this episode of ‘Civitas Conversations’ to further discuss the AI race and why the United States must go it alone.
